New player idea ..... Play when you can

Hey Everyone ....

I know I've already sent out an email about cribbage last week ... but this one is for this week and all the weeks to come through the summer.

I received an email from a new player about our cribbage meetup and how things are run. This person talked about traffic and time and other issues with work and family and things .... I've been thinking about it since then. This morning I had an idea about it ... yes, a bit slow on the idea (( SHUT UP RICHARD ! ! ! - I can hear you laughing )).

We have had so many new players join these past two years ... from a group of 12 players to over 80 on the list. Some of the players that have shown interest have never shown up ... some players have come out a couple of times .... others have come many times. I am very thankful - all the members of the club are very thankful (its NOT my club - I just help run things ... the club belongs to ALL of you).

Starting tonight .... the 25th of June

Here is my idea ..... From September through May everyone has to play all 9 games for things to count. Well we are in the summer break and the points do not count towards your GRP's or your MRP's .... this is just for our club and your practice and keeping your skills up to date and/or improving your skills. Since this is " JUST " for our club and " WE " can do whatever we want .... I have come up with (because of the help of others input ) the idea of from May until September when we start the new season again .... Come out and play when you can. We don't care if you get there at 9pm and just play two or three games .... or if you get there around 7pm and play one or two or eight or nine games. If you play and lose the first 4 or 5 games and you want to leave - thats completely ok ... NO ONE will give you a hard time about it ... if you win the first 4 or 5 games and need or want to leave - thats completely ok too.

The points on the score board are for any and all games played during the summer break. So if you come out around 8pm - 8:30 - 9pm - etc ... and you play 2 or 3 games and get 2, 3, 4, 6 or 9 points or whatever ..it will be posted on the scores. When someone leaves we will just close in the gap - when someone new shows up we will add another table or board and continue playing.

I do believe if you come out when you can - you will get more out of the club than when you only come out when you have the time for "ALL" of the games and can dedicate 3 or more hours to play cribage. We have July and August - thats only two months to get things going again.

PS ... I'm thinking about starting the cribbage training up again for Sundays - it will not be at the wild turkey ....IF we start this up again - first one will be in McKenny / Allen area ... second one will be in the Frisco area .... third one will be in the Grand Prarie / Arlington area ... fourth one will be where people have let me know there is an interest. Any of these places could change depending on where people live and show interest in playing on a Sunday afternoon /evening. This is not only to help you improve your games ... but to find new players and get them to join us.
